A Figment of Imagination

Capturing an ephemeral and elusive beauty.

Kaleidoscopes have always fascinated me. They are the finest example of uniqueness and beauty - beauty in its traditional sense of perfect symmetry and balance. Uniqueness in that never will a kaleidoscope generate the same pattern again. The faintest quiver and the pattern is gone, a new composition of shattered glass pieces showing off its flamboyant majesty.

With my camera I try to capture these serendipitous compositions before they are gone forever.

I decline the honour of calling this a gallery. It's rather a cabinet of curiosities - a disorderly but fond collection of the various visual media I fiddle with when I am supposed to be writing but I am not. Photography, drawings, collages, sculpture, comics and other types of creations I fail to classify because of their hybrids nature. Maybe some writing too, eventually. Who knows.

I'm in my late twenties and making a living as a professional in the publishing field. I favour variety in my job as I do in my life: narrative, non-fiction, comics/BDs, VGs... my job isn't limited to writing, though, but also involves the creation of new products (be it series, periodical publications, etc) or the expansion of existing props/products on new platforms.

I have found that for me the perfect balance is to work simultaneously at 3 projects, preferably different media and targets: one of my own creation (usually novels), one commissioned (often, but not limited to, Disney) and a collaboration/teamwork with my now "regular partners in crime".

When the mood strikes me and I need a break from work, I offer my services as a private tutor in my favourite academic subjects - or play with my camera and other art equipment. The visual results of this last hobby will sometimes appear here in my gallery. :blush:

I currently live in Switzerland with my significant other (who says geeks can't have a sentimental life?), a fluffy cat (ironically, I'm a dog person), books galore and a laptop to connect to the rest of the world.

I joined DA to make new friends, have fun and appreciate art. :thumbsup: Didn't we all?
I like browsing galleries, commenting and - if people don't mind - offering advice and critiques. Opinions and suggestions on my own works are gladly appreciated too.

Before my thumb-sharing privileges expire, I wanted to take a chance to share some of the most outstanding action or expressive photos of animals I found on DA. (Fear not, though, I have in store more features for the future, except I will publish them as DA news ;) )

Some of these enjoy quite a bit of popularity already, while and much to my surprise I noticed some others haven't received yet the exposure I think they deserve.

Damn. I'm surprised you don't have more watchers/pageviews.

Your work is easily some of the best photography I've seen in this otherwise subpar photography-ridden website.
